Engro's distracting strategy
Engro has become Angro over Gorano reservoir issue. What a pity that Company is making tireless effort to dispel this impression that the reservoir will not affect local inhabitants, bio-diversity, flora and fauna; but to avail.
Despite paid content published in leading Sindhi newspaper, the Company is literally facing music of Tharis who have stood like solid rock against the multinational monster. It has reaffirmed my belief that determination, commitment with cause, and strategic approach can lead the campaign/movement in right direction, hence ultimately leading it towards the target.
They have opened two-pronged strategy.
Strategy No 1: Engage with all those who are active and against devious design of the company. Keep them busy on social media. Counter them through paid content write-ups. Purchase space and air time in Sindhi media. Make their point of view controversial by fabricated facts.
Strategy No 2: Make them controversial. Create a "anti-development" narrative against Thari activists because this is tantamount to anti national interest. This will harass them and they will distance themselves from such campaign.
But, the Company must know that these tactics being implied by it are very well known, popular and repetitive actions of all corporations. Exploitation may have different forms but modus operandi of multi-billion monsters are always identical.
No matter you keep us busy through social or print media or label us with anti-development stamps, we will fight this battle through court and through every available forum.
You may approach writers and media houses and give them lucrative offers, but trust me we dont have anything to offer them except the REALITY.
In the end, only truth will have victory over blatant lies of ruthless rich.
